Why the name City Light:

This name comes from the Sermon on the Mount, one of the most astounding teachings from Jesus Christ. It touches nearly on every ethical issue we can encounter.

In this day and age, if we can apply the teachings of the Sermon on the Mount to our lives, we will be a light like influence to our peers. Being light means loving, serving and listening to those around us.

Light can but should never be hidden. We must be visible and reachable. Light overcomes the darkness, and thus illuminates a path toward the desired direction.

When our light is visible, good works will be noticed and we will draw many to glorify the Lord.

A meeting spot where we can discuss important faith points that define life. We love difficult questions and doing our utmost to provide rational responses.

We will begin Luminous groups midweek starting in September. Currently, we are meeting, praying, and visiting our friends and new found acquaintances who will be part of our meetings. Some of the topics we will discuss will be: faith, origins, sexuality, overcoming guilt, making wise decisions, The depth, wealth, and validity of the Bible, and other topics.

Our personal connection to Christ is the most vital relationship we have in this life time. We believe the Sermon on the Mount can guide us from being a believer in God to characterized as an Authentic Christian. We, therefore, commit to a journey to study, discuss and apply the Sermon on the Mount to every area of our lives.

One way we are Authentic and Luminous at the same time is found in the story of 1 Samuel 3.3. It states,

3:1 Now the boy Samuel was ministering to the LORD before Eli. And word from the LORD was rare in those days, visions were infrequent.

2 It happened at that time as Eli was lying down in his place (now his eyesight had begun to grow dim and he could not see well),

3 and the lamp of God had not yet gone out?, and Samuel was lying down in the temple of the LORD where the ark of God was,

4 that the LORD called Samuel; and he said, “Here I am.” (NASB).

The lamp of the Lord had not yet gone out

....our aim is to keep the Lamp of the Lord burning in our lifetime of service to God. We must be able to hear His voice at all times and answer such, Here I am!

Our life purpose is to be a relevant light in our family and society. Being Authentic must be evident in every aspect of our influence. Our prime goal is always being active, connected and influential in our families and society.
